					<title>The Menopause Gap</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					By 2025, an estimated 1.1 billion women globally will enter menopause, a natural, but misunderstood phase of life. This talk will address the stigma, myths, and misinformation surrounding menopause, focusing on the mental, physical, social, and economic challenges women face. <title>Why I donated a kidney</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Donating a kidney is quite a thing. But it also isn&#039;t. But mostly, it is. I will talk about all the aspects (personal, technical, logistical, ethical) of the process. Lots of related but entirely different things. How does it affect me? How long did it take? What does everything look like? What do the numbers mean? What does it feel like? Can you do the same? Should you do the same? Who shouldn&#039;t do it? WHY?

					<title>Compositions bookclub The Terms of Order by Cedric Robinson</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Do we live in basically orderly societies that occasionally erupt into violent conflict, or do we fail to perceive the constancy of violence and disorder in our societies? In this classic book, Cedric J. Robinson contends that our perception of political order is an illusion, maintained in part by Western political and social theorists who depend on the idea of leadership as a basis for describing and prescribing social order.

					<title>Old Worlds and New Beginnings</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Federico Campagna and Arianne Conty explore cosmologies that offer an opportunity for us to revisit our understanding of technology generating possibilities for new relations with it in the future. Building on old and alternate histories of knowledge and worldviews, these radical perspectives offer oppositions to present-day power relations and values entwined with technology.

					<title>the price of war</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Europe is ramping up its defenses, with discussions about militarization, strategic autonomy, and NATO targets becoming commonplace in political, mediatic, and public discourses. The perceived existential threats from Russia and doubts about the reliability of the United States appear to be driving this push toward rearmament. But how deeply are counterarguments being considered? And what are the real costs and for whom?

					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Simek &#039;s nachts was een wekelijks interviewprogramma, gepresenteerd door Martin Šimek. De interviews zijn met artiesten, schrijvers, radio- en televisiemakers, wetenschappers. De onderwerpen zijn divers, al weet Simek vaak de gesprekken met zijn gasten persoonlijk te maken. Simek &#039;s nachts werd uitgezonden van 2001 tot 2008 door de RVU.

					<title>Contemporary China Demystifying Economic and Social Changes</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					From the perspective of the West, China is easily misunderstood. Is it capitalist or communist, an adversary or a vital economic partner, a modernized nation or a retrograde regime? A panel of experts demystifies the vast economic and societal changes that have transformed China in recent decades. They discuss China’s remarkable strides toward eradicating poverty and the simultaneous growing inequality that has produced a new billionaire class; the decline in the birthrate despite the end of the One Child Rule; and how increased access to technology, with the limitations of censorship, is affecting the social landscape.

					<title>AIISR Lecture Willem Schinkel and Rogier van Reekum</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					The first AISSR Lecture of 2026 featured Willem Schinkel and Rogier van Reekum (Erasmus University Rotterdam) on migration, the Netherlands, and the fascist horizon.

Drawing on W.E.B. Du Bois, they argued that contemporary European fascism is intertwined with liberal democracy, with migration as a key site where race, order and power are continually rearticulated.

					<title>Whittaker at CCC</title>
					<link>https://podcast.hanszwart.nl</link>
					<description>
					Agentic AI is the catch-all term for AI-enabled systems that propose to complete more or less complex tasks on their own, without stopping to ask permission or consent. What could go wrong? These systems are being integrated directly into operating systems and applications, like web browsers. This move represents a fundamental paradigm shift, transforming them from relatively neutral resource managers into an active, goal-oriented infrastructure ultimately controlled by the companies that develop these systems, not by users or application developers. Systems like Microsoft&#039;s &quot;Recall,&quot; which create a comprehensive &quot;photographic memory&quot; of all user activity, are marketed as productivity enhancers, but they function as OS-level surveillance and create significant privacy vulnerabilities. In the case of Recall, we’re talking about a centralized, high-value target for attackers that poses an existential threat to the privacy guarantees of meticulously engineered applications like Signal. This shift also fundamentally undermines personal agency, replacing individual choice and discovery with automated, opaque recommendations that can obscure commercial interests and erode individual autonomy.
